Yes. In order to diagnose your vehicle's problem, technicians use sophisticated diagnostic equipment and run tests in correlation with those findings in order to come to a conclusion regarding repair of your vehicle. This takes time, tools, and expertise. Diagnostic fees are $160.

Proper diagnostics usually take 1-2 hours of time to perform. In the rare occasion that more tests need to be run, a member of our staff will call you before they proceed to get authorization for additional time.

No. It is company policy that all repairs/maintenance performed on any vehicle must have verbal authorization from the client. If we cannot get a hold of you to get authorization, your car will be parked until we can get authorization from you.

Yes! We have one loaner vehicle at this time, which is available upon request and on a first come, first serve basis to customers over the age of 21. A valid driver's license must be presented in order to use the loaner vehicle and all customers must sign a simple agreement to use this vehicle. This vehicle can only be driven within North Carolina state lines.  There is no charge to use the loaner vehicle, but we do ask all customers to replace the gas used before returning the vehicle with premium fuel. This is a service we offer as a courtesy and we hope customers will be polite and considerate of the next customer using the vehicle so that they too can enjoy clean and tidy transportation while their car is being repaired. We cannot offer this vehicle to customers intending to drive out of state. We also offer a limited number of courtesy drives each day to your home or work within Wilmington city limits.

Yes! We are a small staff - only four people work at Import Performance. As such, we keep a tight and efficient schedule.  It is very rare that we can accommodate walk-in customers. In the winter months, we can usually fit your vehicle into our schedule same day. Summertime is exceptionally busy in our area. Prepare to schedule at least a few days in advance. Regardless, we promise, we're worth the wait!

No. Import Performance is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. If you have a weekend emergency, feel free to bring your car to the shop and park it. There is a Night Owl locked drop box bolted to the front of our building. We'll get to it first thing Monday morning. We've also added key pick-up boxes to the front of the building. If you need to pick your car up after hours, you can simply call to settle your bill over the phone, we'll put your keys in a coded lock box on the front of the building and provide you a key code to retrieve your car keys at your convenience.

If you use regular oil, every 3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. If you use synthetic, you should change the oil every 5,000 miles or 4 months, whichever comes first. Recently, some manufacturers have led buyers to believe you can go longer between oil changes. We do not support this messaging. We've done our fair share of engine replacements and rebuilds as a result of poor maintenance and infrequent oil changes. Best to err on the side of caution!
